Moj, India’s first short video app, hosted a party in Goa yesterday with 60 of the country’s leading video content creators and influencers to celebrate the success of their platform. Created by social networking service ShareChat, Moj was launched just 6 months ago. During that time the platform has grown by leaps and bounds - allowing users from across the country the opportunity to showcase their creative talent through the impactful medium of short-form video content.
The guests at the party included leading influencers such as Gadhi Prashanth (Comedy), Mohak Narang (Drama), Surbhi Rathore (Drama – Lipsync), Junaid Malik (Drama - Lipsync), Abraz Khan (Drama- Lipsync), Sohail Shaikh (Drama), Shivani Kapila (Drama), and Divya Upadhyay (Drama - Lipsync),to name a few. They were taken on a 2-day holiday to Goa, aboard a cruise liner. All necessary COVID-19 precautionary measures including social distancing, face masks, and regular sanitization in common areas were followed to ensure the utmost safety of all guests aboard.
And, it wasn’t just any cruise-liner party. It was a party that saw the guests produce and showcase interesting acts within their genre. The unique event also saw them dance and party away to the foot-stomping rhythms of DJ Aqeel, all night.
Speaking on the occasion, Shashank Shekhar, Director – Content Strategy and Operations, Moj stated, “It has been an incredible journey over the last 6 months and we are honestly surprised by our own achievement. Today, we may have 80 million followers on our platform, but we owe a large part of this success to our incredible content creators. While Moj provides the platform, it is these content creators who have become the face of our app, helping us reach an even larger audience across the country. Since they have played such a pivotal role in our growth, we believe that it is only befitting to celebrate our success with those who have helped us scale exponentially over the last 6 months. But, that’s not it. We also wanted our content creators to interact with their fellow creators, understand their personalities, discover commonalities, and open opportunities to collaborate with each other in order to nurture this ever-growing community. This unique social engagement and party is merely the first step to achieve that larger goal. Moj isn’t just a platform. It’s a movement. And, with folks likes these by our side, this movement is only going to gain greater momentum moving forward.”
The quality and magnitude of Moj’s top artistic talent can be gauged from the scale and reach of each of the esteemed guests. Junaid Malik, who is well-known for his comedy and lip-sync video clips has almost 4.2 million Moj followers and over 34 million likes. Abraz Khan, an actor, model, fashion blogger, YouTuber, and Instagrammer is known for his lip-syncing videos and has 3.8 million followers to date.
Another immensely popular lip syncing phenomenon, Divya Upadhyay, has over 4.1 million followers. While Beauty Khan, popular for her dance moves and her unique fashion, has expanded her audience massively to entertain her fans on Moj.
Moj allows users to upload 15-second clips and beautify them with filters and emoticons. The additional lip-syncing functionality in the app adds a greater level of fun, creativity, and surprise that leaves audiences yearning for more! Focused on vernacular content, Moj supports 15 regional languages and caters to diverse audiences across age groups and state boundaries. Consistently ranked amongst the top-rated apps on Google Play Store, Moj aims to bring a global community of creators on to a single platform so that users can meet “tens of millions of celebrities and talented artists” from around the world and also forge amazing friendships with young people from their city or neighborhood. In short, there’s something for everyone. Instant entertainment, social networking, and unprecedented reach.
Just 6 months after its launch, Moj is on a journey to revolutionise short video content creation and interaction in India. And, with the caliber of content creators on its platform, that dream appears easily attainable.
