It was a déjà vu situation for the viewers who witnessed Miss Universe pageant 2019, held on Sunday. Among 90 women across the world, Miss South Africa Zozibini Tunzi was crowned the Miss Universe 2019 defeating Miss Puerto Rico Madison Anderson. But just like 2015, audiences across the world witnessed a similar situation when the host of the show Steve Harvey, who has hosted the beauty pageant for the last five years, announced the wrong winner during the National Costume category. But as explained by him looks like it wasn’t his fault entirely.
On the stage, he mistook the National Costume category’s winner’s name. While announcing the winner’s name, he started by saying, “Earlier this week, all the contestants competed in a National Costume contest, “Here's the look at the winner, Miss Philippines...” Hearing this , the real winner standing beside him took the mic and corrected him. “It's not Philippines. It's Malaysia,” corrected Shweta Sekhon.
