Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli mourned the demise of legendary Indian sprinter Milkha Singh. The cricketer made a post on his Instagram and paid tribute to the legendary sprinter Milkha Singh. The Kohli-led Indian cricket team also paid a tribute to the Flying Sikh, on the second day of World Test Championship final. Virat and his team were seen sporting black armbands on the field. A number of Indian cricketers and sports personalities also paid tribute to the legendary sprinter on social media.
On his Instagram, Virat Kohli shared a throwback picture of him, with late Milkha Singh Ji. Sharing the photo, Virat wrote, “A legacy that inspired a whole nation to aim for excellence. To never give up and chase your dreams. Rest in Peace #MilkhaSingh ji. You will never be forgotten.” He spoke about the legacy the Flying Sikh had, to ‘never give up’, inspiring the whole nation to aim for excellence.
While the Indian cricket team skipper paid tribute, BCCI tweeted, “#TeamIndia is wearing black armbands in remembrance of Milkha Singhji, who passed away due to COVID-19.” Taking to Twitter, BCCI mentioned that the Indian cricket team is sporting black armbands in remembrance of Milkha Singh Ji, who passed away last night. Milkha Singh breathed his last on Friday night in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Chandigarh’s PGIMER hospital. He passed away almost a month after battling COVID-19. The Flying Sikh left for his heavenly abode, just 5 days after his wife, Nirmal Kaur’s demise. Milkha Singh and his wife died due to COVID-19 complications.
