Some days ago, we reported how the former Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle had sued a British media company called Associated Newspapers, owner of the Mail for allegedly publishing some parts from her personal handwritten letter to father Thomas Markle. As per Meghan’s legal team, the newspaper in question tried to mislead their reads and also had intentions of creating a rift between Meghan and her father Thomas. Now, as per a report in 5RB law firm's official website, Meghan has hired her late mother-in-law Princess Diana’s former lawyer for this case.
As per the report, Meghan has roped in David Sherborne to represent her in her lawsuit against the Associated Newspapers on Sunday. FYI, David has also handled some high-profile British celebrity cases like that of Elton John, David and Victoria Beckham, and Harry Styles. An official statement on Sherborne’s profile read, “He is also acting for HRH The Duchess of Sussex in her misuse of private information, breach of data protection, and infringement of copyright action against Associated Newspapers.”
An open letter sent by Meghan and Harry’s representatives declared how they would not engage with The Sun, Mirror, Daily Mail, and Express publications because of their reporting style towards the two. "This policy is not about avoiding criticism. It's not about shutting down public conversation or censoring accurate reporting. Media have every right to report on and indeed have an opinion on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, good or bad. But it can't be based on a lie,” read an excerpt from their letter.
A source close to the couple revealed to BAZAAR.com that if Meghan wins the case, she will donate the damage charges from the lawsuit to an anti-bullying charity.
