The former Duke and Duchess of Sussex Prince Harry and Meghan Markle created an uproar ever since the two decided to step down from their Royal duties. And as this news was quite a big deal, the Royal couple made all the way to the headlines of various publications for various reasons. This called for some trouble for publications too. Giving a little back story, as per reports, the couple took a stern decision due to the intrusion of the British media and sued a newspaper for invasion of privacy and copyright infringement. The couple even blacklisted four UK tabloids for their misleading stories in a scathing letter to the tabloid editors.
Having said that, the latest report on her fight against the British news publication is that Meghan Markle has lost the first round of her legal battle against them, claims Mirror. The judge has decided to strike out parts of the case but their lawyer has decided to move forward as Mirror reported. "Today's ruling makes very clear that the core elements of this case do not change and will continue to move forward. The duchess' rights were violated; the legal boundaries around privacy were crossed,” read a statement released on behalf of Meghan.
“As part of this process, the extremes to which the Mail on Sunday used distortive, manipulative, and dishonest tactics to target the Duchess of Sussex has been put on full display. Whilst the judge recognises that there is a claim for breach of privacy and copyright, we are surprised to see that his ruling suggests that dishonest behaviour is not relevant,” the statement added.
The statement further stated that they respect the judge's decision and will continue to focus on the issue of a private letter that was published by the publication, also stating that they want the tabloid to beheld accountable for the violation of Meghan’s privacy.
