Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle have been hitting headlines, ever since they stepped down from their roles as senior members of the Royal family. Since the past few days now, Meghan Markle is in the news for dropping off her maiden names from son Archie Mountbatten-Windsor's birth certificate. As per the report, Meghan’s name was changed from the official document. It was reported that her forenames, Rachel and Meghan were removed altogether and she is currently referred to with the ‘HRH’ title. Now, a representative to Markle has reacted to the reports and called it out as ‘clickbait’.
Speaking with Bazaar.com, Meghan Markle’s spokesperson set the record straight. She mentioned that the Palace changed the name of Meghan Markle on the public documents in 2019. The spokesperson said, “The change of name on public documents in 2019 was dictated by The Palace, as confirmed by documents from senior Palace officials.” The spokesperson to Markle confirmed in her statement that the change was not requested by Prince Harry’s wife. She said, "This was not requested by Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex nor by The Duke of Sussex."
The spokesperson then addressed the reports surfacing. She called out the tabloid that published the report and suggested that they focus on things going out in the world, rather than creating “clickbait”. She continued, "To see this U.K. tabloid and their carnival of so-called ‘experts’ chose to deceptively whip this into a calculated family ‘snub’ and suggest that she would oddly want to be nameless on her child’s birth certificate, or any other legal document, would be laughable were it not offensive. A lot is going on in the world; let’s focus on that rather than creating clickbait."
Meanwhile, before Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s son, Archie’s birth certificate was updated, it was released to the public, as per the report. According to the Royal commentators, on the document, Markle’s occupation was listed as “Princess of the United Kingdom". Royal Musings founder Marlene Koenig was reported saying back then that “Every wife of a prince is a princess regardless of how she is styled." Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcomed Archie on May 6, 2019. It was reported a month after his birth that his name is changed in the birth certificate.
