As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from royal duties last year, the news grabbed a lot of headlines. As per a report in People, the final decision about Meghan Markle- Prince Harry’s official royal roles is expected soon.
People magazine quoted insiders saying that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are likely to lose the royal patronages that were given by Queen Elizabeth. While the decision was originally supposed to be taken on March 31, that is, on completion of one year since Meghan and Prince Harry left royal work, sources informed People magazine that the decision is now expected soone. They are expected to retain their His/Her Highness titles as well as their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles, according to the report in People.
As per the report, insiders informed that they will be asked to give up their royal patronages, including Rugby Football Union, the Rugby Football League and the London Marathon for Prince Harry, while it includes the National Theatre for Meghan. The report also states that Prince Harry will likely lose his honorary military appointments.
The report in People states that the part of the decision to accelerate this process was because of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s deals with Netflix and Spotify. “It was clear to her from the start that a hybrid role is not an option,” said a source.
