The report stated that Tendulkar wrote, “My attention has been drawn to some disconcerting media coverage about my name being referred to, in the context of some appointments being considered presently. Any appointment should be made purely on merit and in adherence to the laid down process with influence and nepotism having no role to play, whatsoever.”
In a letter to MCA president Vijay Patil, Sachin Tendulkar mentioned how nepotism should have no role and mentioned that merit should be the role criteria in regards to the positions in the Mumbai team. The MCA said, “The Hon. President had authorised Mr. Amit Dani to provide his suggestions to the CIC considering that he is a first-class cricketer. Mr. Dani had only made certain suggestions and had in no way recommended any name for the appointments.”
