Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra posted a 1 minute 51 seconds video on his social media profiles where he can be seen repeatedly demanding answers for his questions from Editor-in-Chief of Republic TV Arnab Goswami. The two were on board one of IndiGo’s flights from Mumbai to Lucknow, and the video of Kamra and Arnab Goswami has gone viral on social media. The video shows Arnab choosing to maintain his silence and ignoring Kamra, with his earphones plugged in. While Kamra did not get replies, he did get suspended from flying by IndiGo and Air India, after which #BoycottIndigo started trending on Twitter.

The IndiGo airline tweeted, “In light of the recent incident on board 6E 5317 from Mumbai to Lucknow, we wish to inform that we are suspending Mr Kunal Kamra from flying with IndiGo for a period of six months, as his conduct onboard was unacceptable behaviour," and another one of their tweets read, “Hereby, we wish to advise our passengers to refrain from indulging in personal slander whilst onboard, as this can potentially compromise the safety of fellow passengers.” Twitter was sharply divided into two, with some slamming Kamra’s behavior, saying it endangers the safety of air travelers, while others lauding his courage. Kunal Kamra shared the video and wrote, “I did this for my hero...I did it for Rohit.” Take a look at the video:

Among those who reacted to this news was Congress MP Shashi Tharoor who wrote, “The truth is that it was time someone gave him a taste of his own medicine. These are the words he regularly uses to berate his innocent victims, except he does so in a hectoring, bullying manner & at higher volume & pitch than @kunalkamra88 does in this video.” On the other hand, Civil Aviation minister Hardeep Singh Puri wrote, “Offensive behaviour designed to provoke & create disturbance inside an aircraft is absolutely unacceptable & endangers safety of air travellers. We are left with no option but to advise other airlines to impose similar restrictions on the person concerned.”

Kunal Kamra shared his statement about the incident, and wrote that he had apologized to crew members and pilots. His statement read, “I apologise to all passengers except one.”
