Kim Kardashian seems to have found a new liking for historic objects. After facing backlash for sizzling in Marilyn Monroe's iconic 'Happy Birthday, Mr. President' dress at Met Gala, Kim has once again landed herself in controversy as she added a piece of royal history to her jewellery collection. The SKIMS founder reportedly parched the Attallah Cross that once belonged to the late Princess Diana. The reality star and businesswoman bought the jewel during Sotheby's London's royal and Noble auction for £163,800.
The pendant was initially curated in the 1920s by court jeweller Garrard; and Diana famously wore it over 60 years later, with a Catherine Walker dress, to a Birthright charity gala in October 1987.
For those unaware, the Attallah Cross is bold and colourful, which is crafted from square-cut amethysts and circular-cut diamonds to form its distinct flowery details, reported HarpersBazaar.
Naturally, Twitteraties were in no mood to spare Kim and they jumped on this opportunity to troll the star and flooded Twitter with hilarious memes. Many said that she bought so and so for how much. Apart from that a Twitter account trolled her saying she bought Doctor Strange's Cloak of Levitation, to which director Scott Derrickson responded saying he also has the original Eye of Agamotto.
The HarpersBazaar report quoted Kristian Spofforth, head of jewellery at Sotheby's London, who explained "This is a bold piece of jewellery by its size, colour and style which cannot fail to make a vibrant statement, whether it be of faith or fashion – or indeed both," adding, “We are delighted that this piece has found a new lease of life within the hands of another globally famous name."
The statement necklace represented a pivotal point in Diana’s life and she is known to have emerged more confident and expressive with her own personal style.
