Actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut extended her support to wrestler Vinesh Phogat after Phogat was disqualified from the Paris Olympics 2024 finals for being overweight. This message of support came shortly after Kangana had criticized Phogat for raising slogans against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government during the wrestlers' protest in India. Kangana took to her Instagram stories to share Phogat's first photo following her disqualification and captioned it with "Sherni..." Additionally, she posted an illustration of Mother India weeping and consoling Phogat, with the text on the image reading, "Mat ro Vinesh, aapke saath khada hai pura desh" ("Don't cry Vinesh, the whole nation stands with you").
