Veteran actor Javed Khan Amrohi made his mark with the films ‘Lagaan’ and ‘Chak De! India’ passed away after his prolonged battle with breathing problems. The late actor offered his most memorable performance in director Rajkumar Santoshi's 'Andaz Apna Apna' alongside Aamir Khan and Salman Khan.

Now, in a recent interview, filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi expressed his grief and praised the senior actor. He told ETimes, "It’s very sad. He was a very good human being and a fine actor. I think he never got his due in Hindi cinema. He worked a lot in theatre too." Reminiscing their association the filmmaker said, "We did Andaz Apna Apna together. He played Anand Akela in the film. I enjoyed working with him because he was intelligent and understanding. He was always smiling and a producer-friendly actor."

Santoshi controlled his shock over Javed’s demise and said, "My heartfelt condolences on his demise and may his soul rest in peace." 

Filmmaker Ramesh Talwar confirmed Javed’s death to PTI on Tuesday and also shared that he was suffering from a breathing ailment. 

As per the reports, Javed had been bedridden for one year and was undergoing treatment in Mumbai. “He passed away at the hospital around 1 pm as both his lungs failed,” Talwar said.

Meanwhile, Akhilendra Mishra, who often worked with Javed also shared the news of the actor’s death on his Facebook page. "Vinamra shraddhanjali Javed Khan saheb, behtareen abhineta, varishta rangkarmi IPTA ke sakriya sadasya (Humble tribute Javed Khan sir. Best actor, senior artist, active member of IPTA).”
