The first day of the first month in the Iranian calendar is celebrated as Navroz or Parsi New Year also referred to as Pateti. This special day will be celebrated on August 17 and is known to be a public holiday. Nowroz or ‘New Day’ is celebrated by the Parsi’s who follow one of the oldest monotheistic religions of Zoroastrianism. This day is also called as Jamshedji Navroz after Jamshed, the legendary King of Persia who started the Parsi calendar which marks this special day for the Parsi’s.
The religion of Zoroastrianism was founded by Prophet Zarathustra in ancient Iran approximately 3,500 years ago and there are an estimated 2.6 million Zoroastrians worldwide who celebrate Parsi New Year. In India, there are about 70,000 Parsi’s and they clean, decorate their houses and wear new clothes celebrating their festival. To decorate the doors and windows, the Parsi’s use garlands of roses and jasmine flowers and use colour powders for creating patterns also known as Rangoli on the steps of their houses, like we do during Diwali. There is a feast of food including Parsi delicacies and desserts to savour your taste on this auspicious day. The festival throughout the day is spent by visiting friends and relatives, exchanging festive greetings, gifts and good wishes. Here are the best Navroz Mubarak Messages, Wishes, SMSes, Quotes, Images and Greetings.
