Supermodel Gigi Hadid was arrested in the Cayman Islands while she was enjoying her vacation. The American social media sensation was taken into custody for possession of cannabis while vacationing there.
The portal also quoted a local news article from Cayman Marl Road which maintained that soon after Hadid and her pal arrived via a private plane, customs officials found ‘ganja and utensils used for the consumption of ganja' in their luggage.
The two were escorted to the Prisoner Detention Centre after being detained. However, they were later released on bail.
The possession of cannabis was found to be utilised for personal use. Yet, the two were detained on the charges of "importation of marijuana and importation of utensils to smoke the cannabis," reported TMZ.
In a conversation with E! News, Hadid’s representative said, "Gigi was travelling with marijuana purchased legally in NYC with a medical license. It has also been legal for medical use in Grand Cayman since 2017. Her record remains clear and she enjoyed the rest of her time on the island."
The latest development comes shortly after Zayn Malik, Gigi Gadid’s ex-boyfriend and father of her 2-year-old child, made headlines after he gave his first interview in almost 6 years on the ‘Call Her Daddy’ podcast.
