Raymond Group’s chairman Gautam Singhania announced separation from his wife Nawaz Modi Singhania after 32 years of togetherness in November 2023. Netizens were left in shock after the news made the headlines. During the divorce settlement talks, in January 2024, the couple collapsed when she asked for 75 percent of her former husband’s estimated USD 1.4 billion net worth. Now she has opened up about the divorce settlement, the support she received from her former father-in-law Dr Vijaypat Singhania, and her ex-husband assaulted her and her minor daughter.

For the unversed, Modi used to be a board director of JK Investors, Smart advisory-finserve, and Raymond Consumer Care Ltd (RCCL) before she was removed from her position. Calling it an ‘invalid ground,’ she explained that Gautam lost his confidence in her after she became the whistleblower, who called him out for talking about his “way of operating.”

Speaking on her removal from the board of directors, during an interview with India Today, she added, “I am going to be detailing these points out. This is his way of operating. Even all the AGMs are always held in Ratnagiri, so that people or shareholders are not able to get there. These are his 'Bhindi bazaar' tactics, as even his father calls it, of strong-arming people in a bid to get them out.”

In the same interview, Nawaz revealed how her father-in-law,  Dr Vijaypat Singhania, supported her demand. She explained that Sr Singhania wanted her to get 50 percent of his wealth and the rest 50 percent to his son. However, she demanded another 25 percent each for her daughters Niharika and Nysa. Quoted by Bollywood Shaadis, she shared, “It's USD 1.4 Billion on paper. My father-in-law, Dr. Vijaypat Singhania, says I should be getting 50 per cent of his wealth while Gautam (Singhani) should keep the other 50 per cent. But I want only 25 per cent each for my daughter Niharika and Nysa.”

Nawaz Modi Singhania also shed light on how things turned sour between her and her ex-husband Gautam Singhania after she became a whistleblower. She also alleged that Singhania physically assaulted her and their minor daughter for several during his birthday in September 2023 after she called him out in August 2023. She added, “I filed a police complaint. Subsequently, I was hospitalised for several days and came out with a broken back. I went straight to the police for a further statement.”
