FIFA World Cup 2022 has finally kickstarted and fans across the globe are cheering for the home countries. However, an Argentinian TV reporter wasn’t particularly happy as she witnessed a rather disappointing setback, but it all seemed to have taken a pleasant turn, thanks to the Qatari police.

The TV reporter nearly choked on her tears after getting robbed during the opening days of the 2022 World Cup. However, she was taken aback with the officials’ response. The tournament kicked off on Sunday evening as Qatar faced Ecuador in the first match.

In the build-up to the opening match, Argentinian reporter Dominique Metzger was conducting a live broadcast, and her handbag was stolen, as reported by The Mirror. Upon reporting the robbery to the local police authorities, they asked her what punishment she would like to be imposed upon the thief.

The report quoted her saying, “I went to the station and that was when the cultural differences began. The policewoman said to me: 'We have high-tech cameras everywhere and we are going to locate him [the thief] with face detection. What do you want the justice system to do when we find him?'.”

"What justice do you want? What sentence do you want us to give him? Do you want him to be sentenced to five years in prison? Do you want him to be deported?", she said.

Previously, a Danish network crew was approached by a group whilst they were producing a piece.
