Nidhi Razdan, one of the most prominent television journalists and news anchor, announced on Saturday that she will be leaving NDTV, to embark on a new journey. Razdan, who had been working with the television channel for 21 long years, informed people of her decision of changing her direction and said that she would be heading to teach journalism at the prestigious Harvard University later in the year. Bollywood celebrities Swara Bhasker, Farhan Akhtar, and former CM of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah took to their Twitter to wish her all the best for new beginnings.

Nidhi Razdan tweeted, “Some personal and professional news: after 21 years at NDTV, I am changing direction and moving on. Later this year, I start as an Associate Professor teaching journalism as part of Harvard University’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences.” In another tweet, she wrote, “NDTV has taught me everything. It has been my home. I am proud of the work we do, the stories we cover, the values we stand for, especially at a time when the much of the media has surrendered its objectivity.” She further thanked her colleagues and co-founders of the channel, Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy, and wrote, “You took me in as a 22 year old and believed in me. I never say never, so TV may one day beckon again. Wish me luck.”

Swara Bhasker congratulated her and wrote, “Big congratulations Nidhi! I say good for Harvard!,” while Farhan Akhtar also wished her all the best. Omar Abdullah’s tweet read, “What a momentous change for you @Nidhi & I know the decision wasn’t an easy one for you. All the best for the new beginnings. I’m sure you will make a great mentor & teacher.”


Nidhi Razdan has been a leading name in journalism and even won the International Press Institute India award for her reporting of the Kathua rape and murder case probe. She was the face of the channel’s show Left Right and Centre, and has also authored a book Left, Right and Centre: The Idea of India, published in 2017. In her career span, she has been at the forefront of several big stories.
