A disappointed fan of Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh, Riddhima Kapoor, recently sent a legal notice to him after failing to secure tickets for his Dil-Luminati India Tour concerts. Riddhima, a law student from Delhi, accused the event organizers of engaging in unfair trade practices and violating consumer rights. Her frustration stemmed from the fact that despite the official announcement that ticket sales would begin at 1 p.m. on September 12, she noticed that the passes went live a minute earlier, at 12:59 p.m., allowing many fans to secure tickets within seconds.

In her legal notice, Riddhima also mentioned that she had obtained an HDFC Credit Card specifically to access early-bird tickets for the concert. Although money was deducted from her account during the booking attempt, she was unable to secure the tickets, and the amount was later refunded. She argued that this irregular transaction indicated possible manipulation and scalping of tickets, where tickets were being hoarded or resold at inflated prices. The notice highlighted that this practice violated the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, and constituted an unfair trade practice. Riddhima accused the organizers of artificially inflating demand and manipulating ticket prices, which she believed was an act of bad faith.

In addition to Diljit Dosanjh, the legal notice was also sent to Zomato, HDFC Bank, and Saregama Pvt Ltd, entities connected to the concert. As of now, neither Diljit nor the event organizers have responded to the legal claims. Diljit Dosanjh has been facing backlash for the high ticket prices for his Dil-Luminati show in India, with tickets selling out within minutes. While his concerts are rare in India, many fans, especially those from middle-class backgrounds, expressed disappointment over the unaffordable rates, further fueling criticism toward the singer and the event organizers.
