Ever since Coronavirus has been declared as a pandemic, the world is now taking proper precautions to avoid the spread of the infection further. The virus has become a threat to almost everyone and the governments are doing everything possible to keep their citizens safe. In India, many states have announced a shutdown of gyms, theatres, schools, colleges, auditoriums, dance classes, malls and many more. With a shutdown, several Bollywood, as well as Hollywood movies like Sooryavanshi and No Time To Die, have pushed their release dates further. Many events have also been cancelled.
Today, we have learned that the Padma Awards which is touted to be one of the highest civilians honours of the country which was scheduled to take place on March 26 and April 3 has now been postponed, as per a report in India Today. The Padma Awards were announced on the eve of Republic Day and the awards are conferred in three categories — Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. However, new dates are yet to be announced.
The list comprises of seven Padma Vibhushan, 16 Padma Bhushan and 118 Padma Shri awards. The awards are given in various disciplines and fields of activities like art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service, etc. Last year, from Bollywood, stars like Prabhu Deva and musician Shankar Mahadevan received Padma Shri awards. Cricketer Gautam Gambhir too received a Padma Shri last year.

This year, Kangana Ranaut, singer Adnan Sami and director-producers Ekta Kapoor and Karan Johar have been conferred with the Padma Shri award.
