After COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) being declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization i.e WHO, many government organizations across the world are calling off major gathering events to avoid the spreading of the deadly virus. With the virus spreading rampantly across the world, India has also been affected by the deadly virus with many cases detected positive in Kerala and Delhi. According to the latest reports, after the start dates of IPL 2020 being postponed, the upcoming India VS South Africa ODI series matches have been called off.
Today, a top BCCI official shared a piece of important news with PTI on the upcoming India VS South Africa ODI series happening in the next few days. The BCCI official said, “With the IPL being postponed, it only made sense that at this point of time, this series is also called off. The country is facing a serious pandemic.” As the BCCI shared an update about the upcoming ODI series, he mentioned that as the country is facing a serious pandemic, these necessary precautions have been taken. The official also mentioned that the South African team will be arriving in Delhi and leave back at the earliest available flight.
Meanwhile, former IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla also took to his Twitter to share an update on the development. Sharing the news on Twitter, the former IPL chairman tweeted, “India South Africa series also called off so no matches in Lucknow and Kolkata @BCCI @BCCIdomestic,” and confirmed the news with everyone.
