The passing of the Citizenship Amendment Bill by the Modi-led government has created a lot of tension in the country. Protests are taking place all over the nation. Today, citizens of Mumbai gathered together to protest and raise their voice against CAA. A huge crowd gathered at the August Kranti Maidaan in Mumbai and chanted Anti-CAA slogans. As this protest was supported by many Bollywood celebrities, actress Richa Chadha took to her social media to share a video and explain why she could not make it to the protest.
Richa Chadha took to her Twitter to share a video and extend her full support to the protestors. Chadha tweeted a video showing her preparation for the protest. In the video, we can see the actress holding a speaker that replayed the slogan ‘Azaadi’ aloud in her voice. While Richa shared her preps for the protest, the video also featured Anti-CAA banners the actress prepared herself. She also painted a t-shirt to express her views. Explaining herself to fans on Twitter, Richa tweeted, “Was all charged up and ready to go. Shoot delayed me. But not sad ! ...Hope is the difference between the living and the dead ! Tonight, we have HOPE. Oh Mazhi karmabhoomi Mumbai, mee mandal abhaari hai ! ...Aapla dhanyavaad @MumbaiPolice!” The actress mentioned how her shoot got her delayed and explained how she wanted to be present with the protestors.
Meanwhile, recently, actress Shabana Azmi also extended her support towards the protestors as she could not be present in person. Shabana Azmi mentioned that she is currently not in India or would not leave a chance to protest against CAA. At August Kranti Maidaan today, celebrities like Farhan Akhtar, Huma Qureshi, Swara Bhasker, Shibani Dandekar, Sushant Singh, and many others were seen protesting with the people.
