Bengali actor and Member of Parliament, Nusrat Jahan revealed Nikhil Jain and she are separated. She issued a statement on Wednesday confirmed the same. The Bengali actress alleged that her marriage with Jain is ‘invalid’ in India as the ceremony took place as per Turkish laws. She explained in her statement that since Nikhil and her marriage was an interfaith one, it requires validation under the Special Marriage Act, which didn’t happen. The actress said that thus, the question of divorce between Nikhil and her does not arise.
ANI took to Twitter to report the statement issued by Nusrat Jahan. As per the tweet, Nusrat said in her statement: “Being on foreign land, as per Turkish Marriage Regulation, ceremony is invalid. It was interfaith marriage, it requires validation under Special Marriage Act, which didn't happen. As per Court of Law, it's not marriage but relationship/live-in.” She revealed, “Thus the question of divorce does not arise. Our separation happened long back, but I did not speak about it as I intended to keep my private life to myself.” Nusrat issued a long statement with seven pointers explaining her stance in detail. The Bengali actress stated that “all my family jewellery, given to me by my parents, friends and extended family, including my own hard-earned assets has been illegally held back by them.” Nusrat finally concluded her statement and wrote, “I would earnestly request my friends from the media to not give unnecessary mileage to such people or situations. Thank you, Nusrat Jahan.”
