Annatthe starring Rajinikanth, Nayanthara, Prakash Raaj and Keerthy Suresh which kicked-off in December 2019 and the shooting continued till February 2020 came to a halt due to the outbreak of Coronavirus. Though the shooting of many films has resumed, Annatthe is yet to get the green signal. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the shooting of the film will now be deferred, considering Rajinikanth's health and safety. Reportedly, they still have 40 days of shoot remaining and the makers were planning to wrap it by year-end, so that it would be ready for a summer release. But apparently, the shoot will now be postponed, keeping the 69-year-old actor's health in mind. As the cases are on the rise and makers are still shocked with the untimely demise of singer SP Balasubrahmanyam, they don't want to risk any actor's life.
"Around 40 days of shoot remains. The idea was to complete the film by year-end to get it ready for a summer release. However, days before getting back to work, producer Kalanithi Maran has called off the shoot keeping Rajinikanth’s safety in mind,” revealed a source to the tabloid. Reportedly, the makers are planning to resume shooting on October 23 in Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad. "The South film industry is still shocked by the untimely demise of singer SP Balasubrahmanyam and don’t want to risk the life of any actor who’s in the vulnerable age bracket, as cases are on the rise. A lot of money has already been invested on the set, but the producer is willing to take the financial hit,” the sources added.
Talking about the movie, the report mentioned that the film is an emotional action drama. In the film, Nayanthara will play Rajini’s wife while Keerthy Suresh will essay the role of his sister. As per the same reports, the first half has been shot and edited whereas some dramatic action scenes and the climax action are still remaining which will now happen once it is safe.
After finishing Annaatthe, Rajinikanth will move to Lokesh Kanagaraj’s next. ALSO READ: Netizens Laud Rajinikanth’s Kindness For Fulfilling A Dying Fan’s Last Wish; Actor Tells Him, ‘Nothing Will Happen To You Child'
