Bollywood actor Adil Hussain, known for his versatile roles in films, recently spoke about the Hema Committee report, which exposed shocking incidents of sexual exploitation, discrimination, and poor working conditions in the Malayalam film industry. Adil, who was last seen in the movie Ulajh alongside Janhvi Kapoor and Gulshan Devaiah, emphasized the importance of this report and the need for immediate action. In an interview with Bollywood Life, Adil highlighted the necessity of ensuring a safe and respectful work environment, particularly in the film industry. He expressed his concern, stating, "The Hema Committee Report is crucial, and we must take action to ensure a safe, respectful, and dignified work environment, especially in the film industry. If artists can't respect basic human rights, it's extremely disgraceful and unacceptable."

When asked about potential measures to improve women's safety in the industry, Adil mentioned that most people in the film world are decent, but some need to be educated about basic human rights and decency. He acknowledged the importance of creating awareness and taking steps to prevent such exploitation from continuing. The conversation about the Hema Committee Report also resonated with actor Rahul Bose, who spoke about it a day earlier. According to Rahul, the issues raised by the report are not limited to the film industry but exist across various sectors, including banking, law, and finance. He suggested forming committees, conducting audits, and raising awareness as essential steps in addressing the problem across industries.

The Hema Committee, also known as the Justice Hema Committee, was commissioned by the Kerala government to examine women's working conditions in the Malayalam film industry. The report revealed disturbing instances of women being pressured to perform sexual favors in exchange for roles. Following the report's release, many industry members have voiced their support in the fight against abuse. Kerala Police have registered FIRs against eleven individuals, including nine from the film industry, based on complaints filed by actresses.

On the work front, Adil Hussain will next be seen in the Assamese feature film Sikaar, directed by Debangkar Borgohain. The film also stars Zubeen Garg and Urmila Mahanta and is slated for release on September 20.
