Ronit Roy, Gurdeep Kohli and Mona Singh's Kehno Ko Humsafar Hai is back with its Season 3. Ronit plays a character of a drunkard and a womaniser in this season. It's a character Ronit has never played.

We spoke to Ronit about the show and shoots being resumed in the TV industry now. Here's what he had to say:

What kind of response are you receiving for your character, Rohit Mehra, in Kehne Ko Humsafar Hai 3?
I am happy that not just my fans but friends and family also liked my character of Rohit Mehra. Though seeing me in such a role was quite unexpected for them as I haven't done something like this before. There is always an image that moves with the actor. Fortunately, I don't have such a strong image. People like to see me in different roles. But a character like this always scares an actor about being disliked by the people and I also got such reactions initially from my fans when the trailer came out. What I told them was that it is just a perspective, once they see all the 10 episodes, the circumference around the character will get clear to them.

How did your wife Neelam react to your character- a drunkard, womaniser?
She liked the show and Neelam is very critical about my work. Obviously with wives, there is always this thing, 'how this will go with her'. But actor ki biwi hai and in these many years, she understands what my work is all about. She liked me in the show and just like others she is waiting for the remaining episodes which will release on July 1.

How difficult was it to play such a character?
I am an actor and that's what I love to do for my living. And that's what my craft is all about. My mother called me last night and asked, ye jo tune scene kiya kya tune actually piya tha and I replied no I didn't. We don't drink and shoot- I was acting.

Shootings have been permitted by the government. You think it's the right decision?
There is a lot of difference between getting permission to shoot and start the shoot. Permission is just a piece of paper with a signature. But looking at the current scenario, the way we are going and the increasing number of cases, it's not impossible. There is a logistical nightmare because there are various people coming in and we don't know from where and how they are coming? There might be a lot of them who will be Asymptomatic. I am allergic to dust so I usually get a cough and cold. So, it is difficult to understand. Having said that work has to go on. And if they are going out they have to make sure they take care of themselves and take all precautionary measures. I also feel if possible they should provide high grade masks  and PPE suits to the workers and they can also work like corona warriors. So, they are also safe and people around them are also safe. Intelligent minds of our industry need to come together and take care of such things.

You have few films in the pipeline, will you go for the shoot if they call you?
If I get a call to shoot, I will surely ask them what are the precautions they are taking. Hundreds of people are coming together, so we need to check on things.

You have been taking care of your employees with no income in this crucial time and now your savings is drying up, so, how will you manage to help them if things don't start and there is no work?
I don't have too much to put away and when that gets exhausted, I have to put my hands up. I am not ready to go and ask money from the public to support my people. Although they are also part of the Janta. Till now I consider them as my responsibility and thankfully we are now opening up. So, hopefully things will start rolling again and they may be able to get jobs somewhere else with someone else, who is working. Right now there is a lot of uncertainty. We don't know where we are heading and how things will reopen.
