Kasautii Zindagii Kay’s Anurag Basu aka Cezzane Khan
would make many a hearts flutter while the show was on-air. However, soon after
the drama’s closure, the actor went missing. 9 years later, SpotboyE.com has
got him talking.
Excerpts from the conversation:
Where is Cezzane Khan?
I am right here enjoying life and waiting for some good
work to come my way. If I get something worthwhile, fans will soon see me
on-screen. An actor spends roughly 12 hours on-set, hence, I want to enjoy what
I do. Acting is my passion and I wouldn’t do it just for the money.
It’s been 9 years already. Didn’t you receive offers
which were worth taking up?
I know it’s been very long now. I won’t deny that I got
roles I would have loved to do, but due to other commitments I couldn’t. I was
travelling a lot these years too so I missed out on projects. However, let’s
not get into that. Now, if something worthy comes up I will definitely take it
up. A lot of people ask me when I am coming back. I will never leave
acting.
You did a few Pakistani shows and people have a
perception that you have shifted there now...
Yes, I did, but it was long time back. Why do people
keeping asking aap kahaan ho? Through you guys I just want to tell them I am
here, in India. I don’t know why people are confused. I will return to
television soon. Don’t worry.
People might have perceived so because you are never seen
at events or parties...
You are right. People are searching for me because I am
not visible, but, by default, I am not a social person. I don’t like going to
parties.
Are you in touch with your Kasautii Zindagii Kay family?
Yes, I am in touch with a couple of them on social media
but don’t want to reveal the names.
Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 is on its way. Excited?
Of course! I saw the promo and it’s fantastic – took me
down memory lane. In fact, seeing it I felt it’s cut, copy and paste
(laughs).
Do you miss Kasautii Zindagii Kay?
Yeah, I do. The show went on for long. It’s a part of us.
Do you watch television now?
No. People always ask me this question but trust me I
don’t watch Indian television. You won’t believe, I shot for 1500 episodes of
Kasautii... and watched around 20, that too when dubbing was to be completed.
What do you watch then?
I am a big fan of English movies and TV shows.
A Still From Kasautii Zindagii Kay
Who do you think should step into Anurag Basu’s shoes?
How can I answer that? I don’t even know what is going on
TV and who is doing what. I wouldn’t be a good judge because agar aap kisi ka
naam bhi loge, I wouldn’t know.
Parth Samthaan has been chosen for the character...
I am sorry but I haven’t heard his name. How can I
comment on him? I am sure he is capable if he has been selected.
Did Ekta Kapoor call you for any other show after
Kasautii?
Ek do cheezon ki baat hui thi but things didn’t
materialise. I can’t share details.
Did Ekta call you to share that she is bringing Kasautii
back?
Nope, she didn’t.
Last year it was said that you were approached for Bigg
Boss. Is it true?
They have approached me 3-4 times before, but not last
year.
Why didn’t you say yes then?
I don’t like reality shows. I am a private person and
Bigg Boss is a challenge (laughs).
Have you ever watched Bigg Boss?
No, but my mom watches it so if I am sitting with her to
yahan wahan se jhalak dikh jaati hai.
How do you entertain yourself?
I watch English movies, shows and a lot of Hindi films
too. Alia Bhatt’s Raazi was the last film I saw in a theatre -- amazing work by
her and an equally well-made film. You will be surprised if you ask me about
any show or any film in Hollywood. I must have watched all. I work out. Listen
to music and I love eating food. That’s my favourite past time I guess
(laughs).
Why don’t you join social media? It may help you to be in
touch with your fans...
I am there but people don’t know about it. I am lazy to
be active on the platform. I started my Instagram account 6 months back
and last posted 3 months ago (laughs). But I will definitely be more
active now. I miss my fans.
