TV couple Karan Patel and Ankita Bhargava were blessed with a baby girl last month. SpotboyE.com was the first to bring you the good news and now we are here with the first interview of Ankita Bhargava where she reveals all details about keeping her pregnancy a secret, naming her li'l angel Mehr, and hubby Karan turning shopaholic for the little one.
Firstly, congratulations to you and Karan on the arrival of the li'l princess...
Thank you so much!
How is the baby doing?
She is doing good.
So how were the New Year celebrations with the little one?
I didn't even realise when I jumped from 2019 to 2020. Everything is so hazy nowadays. Days are passing so fast. So I don't think I have realised yet that the New Year has begun. Because I think my new year began last month itself when she came into our lives.
What did you guys do on New Year's Eve?
We were at home as we can't leave Mehr alone. Also, my closest friends came home. We were chilling and brought the new year very peacefully with hushed sounds because Mehr was sleeping in the other room.
The moment when doctor informed you that a baby girl has arrived would have been priceless indeed...
Of course. I was in Operation Theatre and Karan was with me inside. The moment doctor informed us that it's a baby girl we were overjoyed as both of us wanted a girl and it happened.
People usually predict the gender beforehand, did you guys also throw guesses in advance?
Everyone was presuming that it's a boy. They used to tell me you are looking like this, walking like this. Karan and I used to just look at each other and share a smile that let them say whatever they think but if God is listening to us, then it has to be a girl. Not just me and Karan, our entire family wanted a baby girl.
Any specific reason?
Between me and my mother-in-law, we wanted a girl to balance it out in the house (laughs). Karan and I both have soft corner for girls. And thankfully, God was kind enough to send us a girl.
Who chose the name Mehr for the baby?
Me and Karan had already decided that if its a boy, he will name him and if it's a girl, I will name her. As hum dono kisi ek naam par pahuch hi nahi rahe the, because our choices are very different in terms of names.
How did you think of the name Mehr?
Mehr is a blessing to me and Karan. Last year, I had gone to the Golden temple and I prayed to Babaji to give me a girl and he was kind enough to bless me with one. So I thought to myself that yeh toh Babaji ki mehr hai and that's how the name was decided.
How has life changed for you post the birth of the baby?
Hamara din Mehr se shuru hota hai and Mehr pe hi khatam hota hai. There is nothing else and nobody else on my mind. I try to accommodate Naughty in her schedule now because he is our first child and I have to balance both of them. I have to be with her all the time as she needs me the most.
What about Karan?
Karan also spends a lot of time with her. Mehr has already started respondig to him as he keeps playing with her and even calms her down when she gets hyper. Karan ki baat maankar so bhi jaati hai. As I can't step out of the house much it's Karan only who is shopping for her. It has become like a routine for him. Since the day Mehr was born, Karan has been on a shopping spree for her.
What was the first thing that Karan bought for her?
Since we didn't know if it's a baby boy or a girl we hadn't shopped anything. So the day she born, we made her wear Karan's nephew's clothes who was recently born. But those were boys clothes and the moment we got to know ladki hui hai, Karan went to a shop and got her a baby pink colour body suit, undies and swaddles.
You kept your pregnancy a secret this time...
Yes, after my past experience which was really hard, I realised that kuch cheeze apne paas hi rakhni chahiye. Samajhdaar insaan wahi hai jo har cheez khulkar na bataye. It's a lesson that I have learnt the hard way, but I believe in it now.
What kind of parents will you and Karan be for Mehr?
I think Karan and I will be very chilled out parents and I feel Mehr is also like us. We will not burden her for anything or try to control her unnecessarily. But yes, the instinct of parents will be there. We will always protect her just like any other parent.
