Ever since The Kapil Sharma Show premiered during IPL last year, it has found a place in the Top 10 shows. In fact, in most weeks, it was part of the coveted Top 5. However, the picture is far from rosy now.

For the past one month, Kapil Sharma has failed to feature in the list, courtesy the infamous mid-air brawl between him and Sunil Grover. In Week 17 (April 21-27) the comedy show stood at the 21th position. A week later, the situation has improved, albeit marginally. In Week 18 (April 28- May 4) The Kapil Sharma Show moved up by two positions and acquired the 19th spot.

The weekend in question had Salim, Sulaiman and Benny Dayal on April 29 (Saturday) and legendary villains – Prem Chopra, Ranjeet and Raza Murad on April 30 (Sunday).

As per the BARC ratings, the episode featuring Bollywood’s favourite villains beat the composers/singers by a fair margin.

Take a look: (ratings in average impressions)
April 29 – 3,157
April 30 – 3,893

Clearly, these veteran actors still possess enough charm to lure audiences into watching them.

You must also note that The Kapil Sharma Show’s dismal performance week after week has had an adverse effect on Sony. SpotboyE.com can tell you that the channel has fallen to the 5th position. Mind you, it’s only performing better than &TV and Life OK. The top 4 channels on date are Star Plus, Colors, Zee TV and Sony SAB (in chronological order).

We wonder what will the channel’s next step be.

Furthermore, in Week 17, Kumkum Bhagya had displaced Naagin 2 to become the most-watched show on television. However, the 2-hour special episode of the fantasy show worked for the makers and it stood at No.1 in Week 18. But the Saturday episode registered a dip in viewership and was at No. 4.

Up next, Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya clinched the No. 2 spot. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Amul Sa Re Ga Ma Pa acquired the 3rd and 5th position respectively.

Vivian Dsena and Rubina Dilaik’s Shakti-Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki slipped a bit and went from 5 to 6. Yeh Hai Mohabbatein starring Divyanka Tripathi and Karan Patel also dropped by one position to find itself at No. 7.
