Week 9 (February 24-March 2) threw up some unexpected results on the leader board. To begin with, The Kapil Sharma Show, which has been successful in retaining its position in the Top 5 for a long time now, met with its biggest disappointment in the said week. It dropped from No. 2 to 6.

On February 25 (Saturday), the show had Govinda and Shakti Kapoor as guests. February 26 (Sunday) had celebrated filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj accompanied by wife Rekha.

While the episode featuring Govinda and Shakti performed reasonably well, the one with Vishal and Rekha fell below expectations.

Frankly, we weren’t surprised. Vishal and Rekha looked out of place in the show. Vishal seemed lost and had no connection with the audiences. At certain points, it looked like he couldn’t comprehend the jokes.

Also, Rangoon’s dismal performance had already put the audience off and it is evident that they weren’t interested in watching the filmmaker-singer duo.

Here are the episodes’ ratings in average impressions:
Saturday: 7,127
Sunday: 5, 613

Now, Kapil Sharma will have to burn the midnight oil to get the ratings of the comedy show on track.

Furthermore, it’s good news for Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai fans. The family drama which had registered a slight dip in its ratings in Week 8 (February 17-23) is back in the game and how! The Star Plus shot up to the 2nd spot in Week 9.

We are sure the producer – Rajan Shahi – cannot wipe the smile off his face considering he received a major setback when the show’s protagonist Hina Khan quit and the fate of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai was uncertain.

Continuing its winning run is Ekta Kapoor’s show Naagin. The story line seems to be moving at a steady pace, keeping the audience hooked.

Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya and Colors’ Shani swapped positions and stood at the 3rd and 4th positions respectively.

Making a roaring entry into the Top 10 is Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Pa Little Champs which is being judged by Himesh Reshammiya, Neha Kakkar and Javed Ali. The talent hunt premiered on February 25 and was the fifth most watched show. Its flattering ratings do not come as a surprise considering the show has a loyal fan following.

Another show which reclaimed its position in the Top 10 is Ishqbaaz starring Nakuul Mehta, Kunal Jaisingh and Leenesh Mattoo. The success of the show cements the notion that love stories will never go out of fashion.
