Naagin 2 Opens On A Thunderous Note, Ousts Brahamarakshas To Clinch No.1 Spot

Ever since the second season of Mouni Roy-starrer Naagin was announced, fans were waiting with bated breath to see how the show fares in the TRP game. The drama with supernatural elements premiered on October 8 on Colors and not only did it open on a high note -- and eventually clinch the no 1 spot -- but completely changed the leader board in week 41 (October 7 –October 13). So much so that Zee TV’s Brahmarakshas - Jaag Utha Shaitaan, which was among the top 3 shows for several weeks now was relegated to number 8 in the said week. Yes, that’s right.

Colors show Shakti - Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki and Star Plus’s Saath Nibhaana Saathiya
moved up the ladder and stood at positions 2 and 3 respectively. You may recall that the two were at number 3 and 4 respectively in week 40. Looks like the growing closeness between the lead pair Harman (Vivian DSena) and Saumya (Rubina Dilaik) in the show seems to be working wonders for the show.

Another unexpected poor performer in week 41 turned out to be Sony’s The Kapil Sharma Show. The comedy show registered a slump in its ratings and acquired the 6th position in week 41 as opposed to the 2nd position in week 40. October 8’s (Saturday) episode saw the cast of Mirzya – Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher – make an appearance along with Anil Kapoor to promote the film, while October 9’s episode had music composer trio Shankar, Ehsaan and Roy. None of the episodes managed to live up to expectations and registered a viewership (in impressions) of just over 5.5 million.

Also pleasantly surprising us was another Colors show, Udaan, which till now was lying at the bottom of the pack. In week 41 it catapulted to no.4. Needless to say, the return of Kamal Narayan (Sai Ballal) and his torturous dealings with Chakor (Meera Deosthale), Suraj (Vijeyendra Kumeria), Vivaan (Paras Arora) and Imli (Vidhi Pandya) piqued the audience’s interest.

Further, Star Plus’s Yeh Hai Mohabbatein performed better and clinched number 5 spot. For those who don’t remember, the show has not been in the top 5 for the last 3 weeks. You can attribute the rise in ratings to Aliya (Krishna Mukherjee) and Aditya (Abhishek Verma) swapping houses. Complex love stories never go out of style. Isn’t it?
