Television actress and former Bigg Boss contestant Yuvika Chaudhary booked for using casteist slur in one of her blog video. She came under the scanner recently after she used a casteist slur. Later, the actress faced severe backlash on social media for using the word ‘Bhangi’ in her video. The Twitterati started the trend #ArrestYuvikaChaudhary on Twitter as well. Yuvika deleted the video and also revealed she was not aware of the word’s meaning. Later the actress also issued an apology on her social media platforms.
According to a report in Economic Times, a case has been filed against Yuvika for her remark, after Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actress Munmun Dutta. The report stated that the actress has been booked under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. As per the report, the case against Yuvika has been filed by Dalit rights activist Rajat Kalsan to Hansi Superintendent of Police Nikita Ahlawat. The report mentioned that Kalsan has apparently submitted a copy of the video where Yuvika can be heard making the derogatory remark.
For the unversed, Yuvika had shared a video that featured her husband, Prince Narula and her. In the video, to address her reportedly ‘messy’ look, Chaudhary happened to use the casteist slur. She said it to explain how Prince always takes time to dress up while she looks worn out every time. After her remark stirred up a controversy on social media, Yuvika issued an apology online that read: “Hi guys I didn't kw the meaning about that word wt I used in my last vlog I didn't mean to hurt anyone and I can never do that to hurt someone I apologise to each n everyone I hope you understand love you all (sic)." Prince Narula also shared a video and extended support for Yuvika. He apologized on her behalf as well.
Meanwhile, TMKOC fame Munmun Dutta aka Babita Ji was also slammed by netizens after she used a casteist slur in one of her makeup videos. She had later cited language barriers for the mistake. However, it was recently reported that an FIR has been filed against the actress.
