Actor Shilpa Raizada, who is better known as Surekha Goenka in producer Rajan Shahi’s show, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, is loved for her acting chops. However, these days, she is also creating a lot of buzz with her vlogging on social media.

The multi-talented actor makes video blogs which have become a raging success among her fans. From dance, makeup tutorials to cooking- Shilpa is entertaining her fans thoroughly.

Talking about how the idea of making video blogs occurred to her, Shilpa says, “I got the idea for vlogging because a lot of fans were demanding that I do something new. I started doing this when the lockdown started. Then I got a call from a news channel to make a video of something that I had cooked. A friend of mine, Chitra, was also pushing me from almost 2 years to start making videos because she always believed that I had a sense of fashion and videos. She encouraged me so much that I eventually did it. I wouldn’t have made videos otherwise." “I started vlogging when I got some time in Mumbai. I had never seen other vlogs earlier except for a few make-up vlogs, I didn’t know what topic to choose but I kept making something or the other. I realised that people’s interest is most in others’ daily routine. So, I stated my videos on my daily routine. It was a big deal for me to learn how to edit and I downloaded certain apps. I realised that I was doing something knowledgeable, making the best of my time instead of playing video games like PUBG, which people get addicted to,” she said.

Shilpa’s fans have encouraged her from the day she put out her first vlog. She too, admits to be completely consumed by the fun of making them, “I got a great response. Whatever I do, I do it from my heart. I don’t put a lot of effort into planning what I want to do. Of course, there is a topic or a reason behind it. I didn’t have any stand earlier and I would hold the mobile in my hand and I have dropped it so many times. Now, I have a stand for it and I also bought a stand to place in my car, in case I wanted to make vlogs from the car. So, I really enjoyed buying these gadgets. It gave me a great sense of excitement, knowing that I was that girl who mostly indulged in a lot of clothes, shopping, basically many feminine things. Now, I have excitement like a fan for myself to check my vlog. So, I make vlogs, watch it on my own, edit it and enjoy it. People have given a good response, especially the dance videos. I really like dancing and I don’t know how to dance very well. But I really want to dance. So, I made these videos, watch it myself. I can never ask people to like, share, comment. I feel if someone wants to like it, they will do it themselves. Even if I have 100 viewers, they are enjoying it the most, then that is also enough for me,” says the actor.

Doing a daily soap is a strenuous task in itself and Shilpa’s work commitments mean the world to her. The versatile star, however, has now found a way to balance her work and vlogs, “I do face many challenges since now I am shooting as well. Earlier, I thought that I will shoot videos from sets also, and it will be very easy but then I realised that it is not allowed from sets. Of course, this vlogging is for my personal use, as Shilpa Raizada and the set property is not mine and I can’t use those. Then I decided that I will do it when on my off days. It does feel like a responsibility at times that I must make 1 vlog per week. So, sometimes I keep 2 vlogs ready and I edit them in between shoots. So, everyone on sets knows that if I am constantly doing something on my phone, I am editing, I really enjoy vlogging and enjoying it thoroughly."
