Actress Pooja Sharma, who is known for the role of Draupadi in Star Plus's Mahabharat and as Mahakali / Parvati in Colors TV's Mahakali — Anth Hi Aarambh Hai, has been part of many mythological shows as a narrator. Pooja, who started her career with Mahabharat, received immense love for her roles in the mythological genre.
When we got talking to the actress recently, we asked her what keeps her hooked to the mythological shows, in a time where TV actresses crave for modern and bold roles?
Pooja said, "The hunger as an actor keeps me hooked to it. There is a lot of scope for performance in such characters. Draupadi, Mahakali and rest of the mythological characters I have played have been very powerful."
She also added, "Recently, I was sitting and thinking it's not very common to get selected for such a powerful character in your very first show. And I feel extremely blessed. Also, who says I am not covering the glamour and boldness quotient in it? The kind of costume and jewellery you get to wear is not something you get to wear in real life. If we talk in terms of boldness, then I guess the character of Draupadi was very bold, after all she was the first woman who stood up for herself and questioned those around her. And that is enough boldness for me."
However, Pooja has no qualms in playing a daily soap bahu too as she mentions, "I can of course play a TV bahu. I don't have any such limitations in my mind that I can do just this. If something interesting and relevant comes my way, I will definitely do it."
