Television actress and filmmaker Kavita Chaudhary left for her heavenly abode on Thursday, February 15, night. She breathed her last at a hospital in Amritsar at the age of 67, where she suffered a heart attack. As per a report by the Free Press Journal, her last rites were performed on Friday morning. The news of her untimely demise has left her fans and admirers in shock. Many have taken to their social media handles to convey condolences to the late actress’ family.
In an interview with the Indian Express, Chaudhary’s nephew Ajay Sayal confirmed that she passed away in Amritsar after a cardiac arrest. She breathed her last at 8:30 pm at the “Parvati Devi Hospital in Amritsar where she was being treated.” She had made a mark in the industry with her versatile performances in various TV serials and starring as ‘Lalitaji’ in the Surf commercials. The late actress studied together with Anang Desai, Satish Kaushik, Anupam Kher, and Govind Namdev at the National School of Drama.

Shedding light on his relationship with his classmate, the Khichdi actor recalled studying together for three years during their training days. He went on to add that she had battled cancer, a few years ago. However, she never spoke about it as she wanted to keep it private. Quoted by Indian Express, Desai added, “She had cancer a few years ago, we have met after that also, but she wanted to keep it private so we never spoke about it. She was originally from Amritsar and died there. I spoke to her about fifteen days ago when she was in Mumbai, she was not keeping too well. Kavita’s nephew informed me about her death this morning.”
For the unversed, Kavita Chaudhary gained popularity by starring in television serials on Doordarshan in the 1980’s and the 1990’s. She was a part of shows like Your Honour, Apradhi Kaun!, and IPS Diaries. Being the younger sister of Officer Kanchan Chaudhary Bhattacharya, the second woman officer in the Indian Police Service (IPS), she reportedly made the show Udaan based on her elder sister’s life. The show aired from 1989 to 1991. The serial was telecasted on Doordarshan during the COVID-19 pandemic.
