While we all wondered how we will beat our quarantine blues, Doordarshan came up with an amazing idea and that is to re-run it's old shows. It started with mythological shows like Ramayan and Mahabharat and now we have a hoard of old shows airing on TV. From Shriman Shrimati, Shaktimaan, Dekh Bhai Dekh, Chanakya to Bymokesh Bakshi - Doordarshan has brought our childhood back with these shows. More so, it has proved to an amazing move for the channel as TRPs have spiked up magnificently. Currently, Doordarshan is one of the highest raking TRP GEC because of these old shows. Twitterverse is enjoying this moment of DD by hilarious memes.
Trust Twitterati to come up with creative ways to give a twist to anything and everything. From Hrithik Roshan's Super 30 to Janhvi Kapoor's dialogue from her debut film Dhadak, everything has found a place in this victory moment of Doordarshan. However, the best is Nawazuddin Siddiqui's Sacred Games dialogue 'Lagta Hai Apun Ich Bhagwaan Hai' that fits so aptly here. Doordarshan can now say this dialogue to other channels and it just appears so perfect.
Some of the memes also took a dig at OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hotstar and more. Until Doordarshan brought in these old shows, OTT Platforms were witnessing an amazing viewership as people had nothing much to watch on television. With the comeback of old shows, people made a return to the TV that led to a drop in the number of consumers for OTT platforms.
