Week 40 (October 1-October 6) was an interesting one as far as TV ratings are concerned. To begin with the good news, after slipping slightly in week 39 (September 24-September 30) Zee TV’s Brahmarakshas - Jaag Utha Shaitaan is back with a bang and clinched the top spot in week 40. It looks like the revelation about Rakhi’s (Charu Mehra) death successfully piqued the audience’s interest and propelled the show’s ratings.

The Kapil Sharma Show, which was at number 1 position in week 39 was relegated to number 2 in week 40. The data reveals that October 2’s (Sunday) episode which had Anna Hazare visiting the sets to promote his film, Anna, did marginally better than October 1’s (Saturday) which saw John Abraham and Sonakshi Sinha make an appearance to promote their upcoming film Force 2. However, none of the episodes matched the viewership of week 39.

Colors show Shakti - Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki and Star Plus’s Saath Nibhaana Saathiya also performed better in week 40. While the former acquired position 3, the latter stood at number 4. For those who don’t remember, Shakti... was at number 4 and Saath... was at number 5 in week 39.

Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya slipped 2 positions and was the 5th most watched show. Has the audience had enough of Aliya (Shikha Singh) and Tanu’s (Leena Jumani) attempts to keep Abhi (Shabbir Ahluwalia) and Pragya (Sriti Jha) apart?

Making a surprise entry into the top 10 shows is Colors show Sasural Simar Ka at number 9 and Star Plus’s Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai at number 10. To tell you, Sasural... has not had such a high viewership for several weeks now. Seems like the audience is returning to the show to see if Anjali (Vaishali Takkar) is successful in separating her parents.
