Actress Sumona Chakravarti made a name for herself in the Hindi entertainment industry for her portrayal of the character Natasha Kapoor in Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar starrer Bade Achhe Lagte Hain. She went on to try her hands in the comedy genre and was a part of the shows like Kahani Comedy Circus Ki and Comedy Nights With Kapil. She also enjoys a huge fan base on social media. She recently opened up about the challenges she faced while buying a house in Mumbai and how the banks here sceptical about giving her a home loan, due to her profession as an actress.
Having started her acting career at the age of 11 with Aamir Khan and Manisha Koirala’s 1999 film Mann, Sumona is all set to participate in the stunt-based reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi 14. In an interview with Indian Express, the actress opened up about the struggles she went through to buy her home. Considering actors don’t have “office-structured salary slip or a fixed payment monthly,” she explained that banks were reluctant to give her loan as she didn’t have a fixed monthly salary. While recalling how she bought her first house at the age of 26, the 35-year-old actress revealed that paying off her home loan was one of her biggest achievements. Quoted by Bollywood Shaadis, she added, “As an actor when we have EMIs to pay off, it becomes a challenge sometimes, especially in a situation like Covid. So when I was able to pay off that home loan, by far that has been my biggest achievement. You have financial setbacks, life throws massive curveballs, and I have been dodging many such ones.” ALSO READ: SHOCKING! Chakravarti further explained how she feels that women must have a roof over their head. She told the media publication, “I always say to girls in our country that having a roof of your own is very important. I often get asked when I am settling down in life, that is what I think is called being settled where you can fulfill the criteria of roti, kapda, makaan. Rest all will come and go.”
Talking about Khatron Ke Khiladi 14, the upcoming season will also see names like Asim Riaz, Shalin Bhanot, Shilpa Shinde, Abhishek Kumar, Krishna Shroff, Gashmeer Mahajni, Karanveer Sharma, and Aditi Sharma among many others. The stunt-based reality show is being hosted by Rohit Shetty.
