Actor Sonu Sood and his properties have reportedly come under the scanner of the Income Tax department. The actor’s Mumbai premises and a company in Lucknow linked to him were surveyed by the Income Tax department, reported NDTV.
The IT department surveyed Sonu's properties since there has been allegedly tampering in the book of accounts related to the actor. The report also suggests that the IT department has surveyed six locations in relation to Sonu and his companies.
The recent tax survey comes days after the Dabagg actor met with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who declared him the brand ambassador for the Delhi government's mentorship programme for school students.
Later, in a meeting, Sonu Sood had refused to respond to questions related to the possibility of him joining politics, specifically Mr Kejriwal's ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Another ETimes report quoted the actor clarifying that the reports highlighted in a section of the media on his political ambitions were “false and baseless”. He added that his family and he have no interest in politics and they are not joining any political party.
The 48-year-old actor won praise for his charity work during the pandemic, especially for organising special flights for migrants stranded by last year's lockdown, desperate to go home. Sonu Sood's humanitarian efforts have endeared him to legions of fans, with many bombarding him daily with requests for help, even money.
Like every year, the actor had welcomed Ganpati Bappa into his house. He bid farewell to the elephant God yesterday with his family.
