Social media trolling and bullying has gone from bad to worse despite celebrities raising their concerns. Time and again, stars have raised their voice against cyber crime, yet it still exists. Yesterday, it was TV actress Shveta Salve who started with a trend to fight the menace of online trolling. It so happened that she was learning yoga from another TV actress Aashka Goradia and her husband. As the Instagram live was on, some netizens dropped vulgar comments on Aashka's video. Shveta took a stand and started with a trend #IgnoreNoMore. Now, in an interview, Shevta has spoken at length about this.
To ETimes, Shveta said that she has got in touch with cyber crime officials and is going to take action against those who dropped vulgar comments for her friend. Describing the incident, Shveta said, "Aashka was teaching the class with her husband Brent and hence had no idea about the comments coming in. Here are people who are commenting on someone teaching yoga and she can't even defend herself. It's high time that crime on social media is addressed and taken up! In my case, I reached out to Malini Aggarwal and she connected me to Shubham from Cyber Crime and he’s guiding me on what needs to be done."
She further asserted that social media bullying needs to stop and it is high time that a lesson is taught to people who hide behind anonymous accounts and say things. Shevta who has a daughter also stated that she is scared for her little one as social media is not going anywhere. She quoted, "I am scared about what the future holds for my own little one. I remember being scared as a girl of the kind of comments that would get passed and with social media, its just gotten worse. If we don't bring in corrective measures now, then when?"
