Last month, we told you that Madhurima Tuli has been finalised as the lead actress of Ekta Kapoor’s Chandrakanta, which is all set to go on floors next month. Weeks later, the producer finalised Vishal Aditya Singh to feature opposite the actress.
Now, SpotboyE.com has it that Shilpa Agnihotri is joining the fantasy show.
Says a source, “Shilpa has been roped in for a cameo and will essay the role of Madhurima’s mother in the show. Her character dies in the first episode and that’s how the story will commence.”
Interestingly, even though the name of Shilpa’s character in the fantasy show remains the same, Ekta Kapoor’s Chandrakanta is not based on the eponymous novel penned by Devki Nandan Khatri.
We hear, Ekta wants to experiment with the show so as to separate it from Kritika Kamra’s Prem Ya Paheli -- Chandrakanta, currently being aired on Life OK. She is actively involved with creative aspects of the show and sits down for briefings with actors.
It is well-known that the fantasy show will replace Mouni Roy-starrer Naagin 2.
The team will shoot the first promo of Chandrakanta soon and will then head to Karjat to shoot a few episodes.
Chandrakanta’s casting generated immense buzz in the industry circles. A number of names including that of Krystle D’souza, Hina Khan, Nia Sharma and Madhurima Tuli were doing the rounds, and it was Madhurima who finally made the cut.
SpotboyE.com also told you that Ekta vetoed Hina’s casting as she was of the opinion that the audience was so used to seeing Hina as Akshara, the doting mother of two children, that they will not be able to accept her as a fantasy temptress.
With the news of Shilpa’s addition to Chandrakanta, we are sure fans can’t wait for the show to begin.
