Salman Khan rocks as the host of Bigg Boss Season 8, but the contestants bore.

Bigg Boss Season 8 begins with its five-time lucky host, superstar Salman Khan who launched the show with much fanfare, which included his hit songs and an introduction of the 12 contenders. Day One looked like a teaser of what’s going to be in store for the next 104-long day game.

After the slowdown of the last two seasons, the channel claims the game is going to be more fun and more complicated now.

Plus point: Salman Khan, Salman Khan and Salman Khan!

Even this time around, the show rests on his broad shoulders. The actor and Bigg Boss have their loyal fans in youngsters who are avid watchers of the show. Salman, with his wit and charm, sure looks in the mood to be captain of this season as well.

Theres still a surprise element, though. The set-up of the main house has not yet been shown. Will it be the plane model, which is the theme of the show, or will it be a more conventional setting like in the last seasons?

Minus point: All the contestants look like substitutes of the previous show. There is a fading top model (Diandra Soares), a popular TV bahu (Sargun Mehta), a gay inmate (Sushant Divgikar), a ‘playboy (Arya Babbar) and prospective love birds (Sukirti Kandpal and Upen Patel).

The launch episode has already given out spoilers. We can clearly see Sargun's husband joining in as the wild card entry. Since Sargun is the only married and popular TV actor, we can see her TV actor-hubby following her to the show.

Conflicts and sparks have already been created on the stage, which looks intentional. Bigg Bosss initial seasons conflicts looked organic, but here the contestants look rehearsed.

The veiled secret society members don't seem interesting enough to generate curiosity.

All and all, Day One with all its grandeur looked loud and crowded. Well have to wait and watch if interest sets in.
