Actress Dipika Chikhlia, who is best known for playing Sita in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan, has opened up about getting trolled and facing criticism for sharing her pictures in school uniform, holding a wine glass. In a recent interview, Dipika explained why she later deleted that photo. Reacting to facing backlash, the actress said she never wanted to hurt the sentiments of her fans and that she is aware that people still see her as Sita, not as Dipika.
Speaking with ETimes, Chikhlia stated, “I never want to hurt my fans. I am feeling bad that I have been trolled. I am feeling bad that I have hurt my fans' sentiments. I am aware that people see me as Sita and not as Dipika. I realised people had got unhappy (so deleted the post). There's enough happening in the world. Why add one more issue?.”
In the viral pictures which apparently seemed to be from a theme party, Dipika Chikhlia was seen wearing a white shirt, skirt, and a tie. She was posing alongside her girl gang, holding a wine glass. Taking to the comments section of this viral picture, many trolled the actress. One irate user wrote, “Ye Apka Khon Sa Avtar Hai...? Sorry, Dekh Kar Bilkul bhi Acha Nahi Laga...” Another commented, “Maa ye aapne Haath me kaunsi drink le rakhi hai?.”
Ramayan, which premiered in 1987, had a rerun on Doordarshan in 2020 during Covid 19 pandemic-induced lockdown.
