Veteran actor Arvind Trivedi, who was widely known for playing the character of 'Ravan' in Ramanand Sagar's TV show Ramayan, left for his heavenly abode on October 5. The veteran actor was suffering from age-related illnesses. He reportedly suffered a heart attack on Tuesday night. Arvind Trivedi’s tragic demise has sent shockwaves across the entertainment industry. As his near and dear ones have been remembering him with a heavy heart, Ramanand Sagar's son Prem Sagar recalled some of his fondest memories with Arvind Trivedi.
While speaking with ETimes, Prem shared some unknown and interesting anecdotes from the sets of the late actor's films. He revealed that Arvind Trivedi took 20 takes to just slap actress Hemi Malini in the movie ‘Hum Tere Aashiq Hain.’
"I picked him (Arvind) up from the Gujarati stage. He was a fantastic actor but lived under the shadow of his star brother Upendra Trivedi who was hugely popular. While he was playing an antagonist in Hum Tere Aashiq Hain starring Hema Malini, there was a scene in which he had to slap Hema Malini. He took 20 takes to do it. It was only after Hemaji and I told him that he should forget that she is a huge star and perform the scene. Then he did it,” Prem Sagar was quoted saying.
He also shared another interesting incident that took place on the sets of the show ‘Vikram Aur Betaal’, during which Arvind was also tested for the role of Ravan. He revealed that he signed Arvind for a tantrik's role and he told him that he would perform the Havan scene in a particular way. “I felt it would be blasphemy but he had the tantrik knowledge. It was during the shooting of Vikram Aur Betaal that he tested him for Ravan's role.”
While applauding him for his brilliant stint as Ravan, Ramanand Sagar's son stated that Arvind Trivedi is the best Ravan we ever had. No one could have played that role better than him.
“He was a huge Shiv Bhakt and recited the entire Shiv Stotra in Sanskrit. Arvindji was meant to play Ravan. Also, it is difficult for me to say whether he was a better actor or a better human being,” he added.
