Television actress Dipika Chikhlia enjoys a huge fanbase on social media. Her fans and admirers often take to the comment section of her posts to shower her love and adoration. However a section of the internet criticises her for ‘tarnishing her image as Sita Mata in their minds’ with all the reels and pictures she posts online. In a recent interaction, she opened up about the same and explained how she takes extra measures not to hurt her fans’ feelings.

Talking to Aaj Tak about it, the actress, who essayed the iconic role of Sita in 1987’s Ramayan, spoke about how she is trolled by netizens for her dance videos even after being mindful to not hurt their feelings. She went on to explain how she maintains her dignity and gives her fans what they want by making reels on old classic songs and avoiding wearing revealing clothes. She added, “I still get messages telling me ‘we see you as Sita Mata, please do not make such reels. Please do not wear such clothes’.” ALSO READ: Ramayan Actress Dipika Chikhlia Gets Trolled For Her Recent Transformation Video; Fans Write, ‘Yah Sab Sobha Nahin Deta Tumko’

She went on to explain how being a public figure she respects her fans wishes, however she can’t stop people from getting hurt. The 58-year-old stressed on the fact that her fans must understand that she is an actor and a human, not her character Sita. She cannot be the same all the time. Dipika added, “I recently did a film with Arun Govil in which I played the role of an angry housewife. She (her character) always fights with her husband. I will keep exploring characters as an actor. I need that liberty, where I may explore things. I make sure to cater to the expectations of my fans, but they must also respect my choice and values.”

Sadly, in this day and age no matter how much celebrities open up about the mental stress such mean and nasty comments take a toll on them, fans almost always feel entitled to criticise them for even the littlest of things.
