The mythological based show Ramayan that featured on every Sunday morning during 1987-1988 is coming back to Doordarshan. The show featured Arun Govil, Deepika Chikhalia and Sunil Lahri and made stars out of them after they gained recognition in the country as Lord Ram, Sita and Lakshman. As the lockdown for 21 days due to the COVID-19 pandemic has been announced in the country, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Prakash Javadekar took to his social media to announce that Doordarshan show Ramayan will retelecast from tomorrow onwards.
On Twitter, Prakash Javadekar announced that due to public demand, the show Ramayana that clocked 33 years this year will retelecast from Saturday. His tweet read, "Happy to announce that on public demand, we are starting retelecast of 'Ramayana' from tomorrow, Saturday March 28 in DD National, One episode in morning 9 am to 10 am, another in the evening 9 pm to 10 pm.@narendramodi @PIBIndia@DDNational."
In his tweet, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting was happy to announce with the people of the country that on public demand, Ramayan will be retelecasted on DD National. He shared that the there will be one episode in the morning from 9AM to 10AM and another one in the evening from 9PM to 10PM. Apart from this, as soon as Prakash Javadekar made his announcement, the Twitterati went on to demand a re-run of B R Chopra's Mahabharat, which was telecast after Ramayan ended in 1988.
