The state of Maharashtra as well as the country has seen a spike in the COVID-19 cases in the past two months. Amidst the rising COVID-19 positive cases and the worsening situation in the state, Maharashtra Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray and the government is taking measures to curb the spread of the deadly virus. A weekend lockdown and night curfew was imposed in Maharashtra till April 30. On Tuesday, the CM announced new restrictions that will be implemented till May 1. The restrictions stated that the shoot of films, TV shows and advertisements will be halted.

As the shooting of TV shows will not be allowed from April 14 onwards, Producer JD Majethia reacted to the new rules. Majethia, who is also the Chairman of Indian Films and Television Producers Council (IFTPC) opened up about how the producers plan to implement the new restrictions. Majethia shared that as of now they are going to follow the restrictions, but will also approach the government. He said, “As of now we are going to abide by the restriction, but very soon we will approach them again. We are with him on this and we are going to go through the order fully once. The last time when he had announced the lockdown, we had a word with him and he understood our position.”

The producer continued to explain the importance of the work that the entertainment industry does. JD Majethia said, “We consider ourselves as frontline workers as we provide entertainment to people who are sitting at home. We make people happy who are dealing with various issues, depression, frustration and bring a smile on their face. We also have daily workers who earn on per day basis so like how the CM has allowed construction workers, we want him to give us a little exception. As of now we are standing with him and after a day or two we will approach him and see what the conclusion will be. We will try to chalk out a plan how we can follow the guidelines with all security and if we can still shoot, we will make a bio bubble and then approach him."

Meanwhile, the CM announced a 15-day curfew on Tuesday. According to the order, the restrictions will be implemented from April 14 across Maharashtra from 8 PM onwards. Also Read: JD Majethia On The Meeting With CM Uddhav Thackeray: ‘No Shooting Will Happen During Weekend Lockdown’
