Shashi and Sumeet Mittal are trying to save a sinking ship- which for some reason is still staying afloat (still on air). Today, at 11.30 am, the duo met journalists to clarify the criticism their show on Sony, Pehredaar Piya Ki, has been heaped with.

Shashi started off the proceedings saying that Karan Wahi, who had lambasted the show via a tweet, had probably not even seen it. Her husband Sumeet quickly added on to it saying that his office would be writing to Karan asking how he could post such a tweet (see below).

The topic then veered to the petition against the show that circulated sometime back. Shashi shared a similar sentiment on this. She shot back, "People judge a book by its cover." This clearly implied that, according to her, most of the petition signatories had not seen the show.

Shashi & Sumeet, if most people, including Karan Wahi, have not seen your show Pehredaar Piya Ki, then why are you both so much worried that you'll need to call a press conference? And if you guys don't think that a small sample size is not enough to determine whether your show is obnoxious, then why did Sony's Danish Khan (Executive VP & Business Head) start a Facebook campaign which read:

The most shocking moment came when Shashi spoke referring to the Suhaag Raat scene, "It's very normal in real life that we decorate bedroom for our loved ones when they marry, and there are kids around who see that."

Note well, the show's leading actors Tejaswi Prakash and Afaan Khan were not present at the conference. We can understand that the 9-year old Afaan was kept away, but where was Tejaswi? Oh yeah, how can we forget that Tejaswi had told us, "Sony will sue me if I speak on the Pehredaar Piya Ki controversy."
