Television actor Nitish Bharadwaj became a household name after he essayed the role of Lord Krishna in BR Chopra’s renowned television serial Mahabharat. Having gone on to work in many other serials and movies, he recently made the headlines for his personal life going through a rough patch. According to various media reports, he accused his estranged wife IAS Smita Gate of mentally harassing him and not letting him meet their twin daughters Devyani and Shivaranjani. Now, the estranged wife made some shocking revelations about the senior actor.
During a conversation with the Free Press Journal, Smita opened up about her husband and their personal relationship. She claimed that he wanted her to quit her job. However, when she didn’t comply, he asked for a divorce. When she agreed to the same, he demanded money for ‘consent divorce’ which she denied. This is when he “started playing a victim card,” she added.
Bharadwaj had earlier accused his estranged wife of not letting him meet their daughters. However, issuing a clarification on the same, Gate stated that her husband had recently met them. Quoted by Bollywood Shaadis, she said, “On February 13, 2024, Nitish Bharadwaj purposely avoided meeting children. And a day later, on Feb 14, he held a press conference, alleging I was not letting him meet the children, without even considering the impact on the kids. On Saturday, 17th February 2024, Nitish met his daughters at our residence in the presence of family friends as well as the police officer. The visit lasted for about 30 minutes, at the end of which the daughters were left in tears.”
Adding to the list of her shocking revelations, she also revealed that Nitish never provided financial support to their kids, like a father should have. She added, “Neither he has ever paid the school fees nor provided any maintenance amount to support them, despite the legal obligation.”
