Madhur Bhandarkar’s Calendar Girls (2015) bombed at the box-office, but it has opened avenues for one of the sexy girls who featured in the film- Akanksha Puri.

The hot calendar babe has bagged a role in a television serial which also marks her debut in the TV world.

SpotboyE.com has it exclusively that Sony TV is coming out with a new mythological show, few months down the line. The show will be based on Lord Ganesha. It will be produced by Contiloe Pictures, which already has a mythological drama- Sankat Mochan Mahabali-Hanuman running on Sony TV. So, will this new show replace Sankat Mochan Mahabali-Hanuman?

We also hear that the story will revolve around the bond between Mother Parvati and her son Ganesha. Parvati’s role will be played by Akanksha Puri.

According to sources, channel wanted to cast a very beautiful girl for Parvati’s role. Hence many actors from Bollywood and Television world were approached for the same. We bring you a few names that were in consideration for the role- Salman Khan’s discovery Sneha Ullal was the first choice for the role but due to budget issues, things didn't work out with her.

Then Madalsa Sharma, a South Indian actress who has also worked in Hindi films like Samrat & Co, Dil Sala Sanki and Angel, too auditioned for the role. Femina Miss India 2012 title holder Purva Rana was also in the race.

Sonarika Bhadoria and Pooja Banerjee have also played the character of Parvati in Life OK's Devo Ke Dev Mahadev opposite Mohit Raina.

Producer Nikhil Sinha, who produced Life OK’s Devo Ke Dev Mahadev, was also planning an extension of the show titled- Ganesh Leela back in 2014. But now Contiloe will be making a show on the same concept which is slated to go on floors soon.
