Stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui was announced as the second contestant of the ALT Balaji and MX Player reality show Lock Upp on Tuesday. The show will be hosted by Kangana Ranaut. Now, in an exclusive chat with SpotboyE.com, Munawar opened up about participating in the controversial reality show. The comedian shared that he is beyond excited to be a part of it as the show is different from what he has been doing in the past.
The comedian admitted that it won't be so easy to survive in the show and called it 'challenging'.
For the uninitiated, Lock Upp marks Kangana Ranaut's debut as a reality show host. When asked about Kangana being a host, Munawar said, "Hum dono same hi hai. Woh apni baat bhi rakhti hai, mein apni baat bhi rakhta hoon." When asked if he's scared, he said, "nahin, genuinely no. Joh hoga dekha jaega." Last year, Faruqui made headlines for controversial reasons after the Bengaluru Police denied permission to his stand-up comedy show in the city amid protests by Hindu right-wing outfits, who alleged that he had hurt the Hindu sentiments in one of his shows. He also claimed that his shows were called off because of the threats to the venue and audiences.
When asked if he thinks he was offered the show due to his past controversies, Munawar said, "Maybe, woh reason ho sakta hai."
Earlier today, Munawar shared the promo and captioned it, "Shows huye hain cancel, kya chalenge Lock Upp mein mere plans? #LockUpp streaming from 27th Feb, LIVE free on @altbalaji and @mxplayer."
